i picked up this book at the thrift store last week. It has been exactly what I've needed.

The Power of a Positive Mom: Revised Edition

below are three passages of Scripture that i was reminded of in te chapter i'm currenly reading in this book. i'm going to make it my aim to meditate on these this week. i wrote them out on large note cards to put in the kitchen since that's where i spend most of my time.

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear.  Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.  Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.  Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;   bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.  Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.  Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

isn't it funny how you can be so familiar with some verses that you almost can't hear them anymore, but then one day you read them and they're like NEW and like you're hearing/reading them for the first time? that's how some of these are to me today.

another good read that I picked u at the library a couple of days ago -

No Regrets Parenting: Turning Long Days and Short Years into Cherished Moments with Your Kids

this book has lots of good ideas, many of which we're already doing with the kids, but many are new suggestions that i've never thought of.

Hazel is at that stage where she needs constant supervision and i'm kind of running ragged today. i've had four cups of coffee in an attempt to stay ahead of her. now i feel jittery and grouchy. must down about a gallon of water to make up for it.

Karen and i ran together on monday night, then grabbed a drink at Cherrywood Coffeehouse before i had to be back at Patterson to pick up Margaret from swim team. i ran/walked by myself last night, and tonight we meet to run together again. she and i plan to run Vern's 5K this saturday. i think it's gonna be fun having a female running partner.

well, the kiddos are having their quiet time, or not so quiet time, as their are animal noises coming from the boys' room. best make the most of my free time before Hazel wakes up.

Lord, please give me strength for THIS day!
